Children’s bunting workshop, part of the ‘Happy City’ initiative at Bristol Harbour Festival 2012

During the summer of 2011, I organised and ran three creative sessions for The Galleries shopping centre in Bristol. The sessions were designed to encourage participation and create a sense of community within the centre. I worked with local charities and organisations to put on an indoor circus, a giant scrap session and create an indoor beach.

Giant craft session with Children’s Scrapstore

Working with Children’s Scrapstore, a local arts reuse charity, the children of Bristol worked together to create a colourful tree. All of the materials used were recycled and children were encouraged to use their imagination and express themselves through the use of mixed materials. The tree was displayed in the Galleries throughout the school holidays as a temporary art instillation.
